The Kalari Story

valto heikkinen (left) pamela heikkinen (right) standing outside Kalari cellar doorKalari was founded by Valto and Pamela Heikkinen, and a  dream was realised for Valto and Pamela when they harvested their first wine grapes at Kalari in 1998. Ten acres of vines, including Chardonnay, Verdelho and Shiraz grapes, carefully brought to their prime and bottled.

Kalari has now changed hands, but remains a  boutique, family owned vineyard situated on the banks of the Lachlan River in Cowra NSW, slightly west of Sydney.

Daring to be different, Valto and Pamela have experimented with some wine styles unique for the Cowra region and are now well known for their three different Verdelho styles, and the Shiraz

The wine range now includes Chardonnay, dry Verdelho, semi-sweet Verdelho, fortified Verdelho, Shiraz. The 2015 Vintage is superb with the Shiraz being a premium drop.
